artist books, artist books ARTISTBOOKS!!!!

Hello all,

I am eagerly awaiting the completion of your artist books.

The Women's Studio Workshop has a strong collection of artist books, most of which were made by current and former residents.  Right now, I am working alongside Toby Millman, who is making an artist book in an edition of 50!!!! That means, she is making 50 books that look exactly the same.  She has masterful craftsmanship, so I cannot wait to see how her books turn out.

In celebration of your altered book assignment, I thought I would like you to 2 book artists that I admire greatly.

The first is Andrea Dezso, who makes these amazing tunnel books.  They are really beautifully made and very narrative.

The other book artist is Kerri Cushman, who I am actually really good friends with.  I love her work because it is rather unconventional.  Sometimes, she's quite witty, as you can see in her work.  She also makes most (or all, but I don't want to speculate) of the paper that goes in her books.

In April, I was a visiting artist at Longwood University, where Kerri teaches.  She taught me how to make Japanese paper while I was there.  It was such an amazing experience for me because I use Japanese paper every time I print, yet I have never made any.  I made a video about the paper making process and I put it on youtube.  Here it is is you would like to see it:

That shall be all for now.

By the way, your blogs are looking fantastic!
