Dylan Peterson
Project #4

27. Take a picture of the sun
This photo of the sun was taken in Newport beach at my new house, I was standing on my porch.

 69. Climb a tree take a picture
This tree is on the Holy Jim trail near my house right at the head of the trail.  I was standing on      what was left of a tree just the trunk, a sad sight the beginning of the deforestation of my favorite hiking trail.  Soon it will never be the same.
 55. Significant Outfit
This is the outfit I wore as my sister graduated from UCI, that only being half the significance because that same day I show up to my house for the party to find that I had been accepted to UCI a great surprise and relief.  I was able to share that day with my sister and now I can follow her footsteps.

Project #3
Redesigning Huntington Pier
For my art piece I am going to be redesigning an art piece in my local community of Huntington Beach. My idea is to have a symbolic structure for the community of the iconic surf city.  Huntington Beach is a tourist destination and is known to be the surf capitol of the world.  I would say 99 percent of its visitors actually don’t surf.  It’s just the main beach of Pacific Coast Highway that can handle crowds up to six hundred thousand at a time.  All of these people want a picture in front of the pier or of them down at the water, whatever it is they want to take away an experience from visiting Orange County’s most famous beach city.
I think the experience of visiting surf city should actually involve the reason of why that town is so popular today.  By introducing a piece of art that would interact with the public. It would be a artificial concrete wave from huntington beach pier on the south side of the pier with a surfboard placed right in the pocket of the barrel.  Allowing all visitors alike to step on board and see what it feels like to be under the lip of a wave.  I think it is a good idea because it would give Huntington Beach a true sense of surfing, recognition to the founders of the wave and a memorable piece of art that is available to the public.
The monument would look best at the front of the pier just off of PCH. It would draw in people wanting to jump up on that surfboard and show off their best surfing poses.  Allowing young children to imagine and families to come together. The estimated budget for this project would be around $60,000 dollars to be done properly.  There is a company that specializes in concrete moldings and designs they would follow my design and would be able to complete the project within 2 months during the winter season.  The materials would cost roughly $15 thousand dollars, the workers would then take $25 thousand and I would expect $ thousand for my art.  Half of my earnings would be donated to a surfing foundation to help protect beaches that are under the threat of modernization.

The community of Huntington Beach deserves the proper monument to showcase their town and its origins.  The wave would be a huge attraction and sign of respect to those who brave the ocean everyday.  Best of all anyone can ride this wave, its meant for fun and memories.

 Assignment #55

Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree
Part 1
Yoko Ono is a Japanese artist who bases all of her work on a form of wishing.  The piece I was chosen to analyze was the Wish Tree. This is a powerful art piece that started in 1996 and has been showcased in many of her exhibitions around the world in museums and cultural centers.  The Wish Tree is meant for people to open their minds and hearts and wish for what they want most.
Ono admits that she does not read any of the wishes for they are personal and meant to be private.  From all of the places the Wish Tree has been Ono has collected over 1 million wishes.  Her goal is to have them house at the site of the Imagine Peace Tower, which will then be made into a tower sculpture which contains wishes of the people around the world of our time, it will be a very powerful sculpture.
I think Ono’s creativity is beautiful.  Her art work in the present is a stepping stone to another one in the future.  Which will be just as moving as the first one, not only is it creative its interactive.  Anyone can participate, if you have a dream you have an important piece to this art work.  If a wish tree comes through orange county any time soon I will go out of my way to be apart of that movement.

Fianl assignment

I choose do to #11, #27 and #55.

#11: Photograph a scar on your body. Make it a close-up shot so that it shows just the scar. Include a story.

This scar is on my right knee and is a good sized scar. I started doing Competitive cheering when I was in fifth grade and my sophomore year of high school my team and I were at a big competition and we were up to show our routine. I was going a flip in the air during our routine on the stage and I tore my ACL. I had my coach running on the mat and grabbing me off the stage. Then a year later I had to have surgery on it again because I had an inch of cartilage around my ACL.

This is assignment #27: Take a picture of the sun. Just a picture of the sun, nothing extra or fancy. Please make sure the sun is visible in the photo, we won't accept reflections of the sun or photos where the sun is not visible. Please be careful not to look directly at the sun through your camera's viewfinder; looking directly at the sun could damage your eyes.

Assignment #55: Remember exactly what you were wearing during a recent significant moment. Maybe it was the day that your boyfriend broke up with you, or the day your nephew was born, or the day you decided to become a vegetarian. It should be something that happened in the last six months. Lay out what you were wearing on the floor, as if you are dressing an invisible, flat person. Tuck the shirt in to the pants, the socks in to the shoes, etc. Don't forget the other things that complete your outfit such as jewelry, purse, hat, etc. Do not add anything extra, like a wig or a mask - just the clothes you were wearing. Stand on a chair or table and photograph the clothes from directly above. Not from above at a slight angle, but so that the camera is pointing straight down.

This outfit is significant because I wore it to my grandpas funeral.

Final Assignment: Hannah Raudsep

I chose to do assignments #6, #11, and #27.

Assignment #6 Make a Poster of Shadows
This is what the description was: "You may take pictures of the shadows or simply trace them. These solid shapes should then be drawn on paper and colored in with a single color. You are not interested in anything but the shadow itself, and you are most interested in shadows that don't look anything like the objects that created them; abstract shapes.. Choose either brown, pink, light green, orange or white. Use only one of these colors. If you would prefer you may cut out the shapes from colored paper. The shadows should appear on the page in a grid formation, in rows. Treat this like a index of shadows rather than a work of abstract art. The finished report should include 10-20 shadows and should be pasted on (or drawn on) white paper of any size (even if, especially if, the color you chose for your shadows was white.) Do not label this poster in any way, except to write your name and the date on the back. My god these are going to be beautiful."

I walked around my backyard and found all of these shapes.

Assigntment #11
This is the description from the site: "Photograph a scar on your body or on someone else's body. Make it a close-up shot so that it shows just the scar. Include a story (write it on a computer as a separate file, don't write it on the photograph) about how the scar happened. Please do not send images of wounds that are fresh and have not healed. Only images of scars will be accepted."

This scar is from when I was camping when I was about 5.  I had went to the little store up the road from the campsite with my brother who was 12 at the time.  The road of gravel and I have always been a little clumsy.  After we got our popsicles we were on our way back to the campsite and I tripped.  I got right back up and didn't even start crying until I looked down and saw blood running down my leg and a rock stuck in my knee.  At this point my brother picked me up and carried me back to the campsite for my mom to make everything better.  I probably should have gotten stitches, but my mom just put a butterfly bandaid on it cleaned up my leg and I ran off playing again.  I was always a tough kid. I rarely cried, and never wanted a scratch to be a reason I missed out on playing outside.

Assignment #27 Take a Picture of the Sun
This is the description from the site: "Take a picture of the sun. If you need to, just point the camera towards the sun and shoot the photo."
